Wike stated during a media interaction that any illegal parallel structure would not be tolerated in the Federal Capital Territory. He also warned that properties used as party offices without legal recognition would be shut down.
He said, “If anybody goes ahead to open an illegal office in the name of the PDP in Abuja, I will seal it.” He further challenged the faction to open an official party bank account for transparency in nomination processes. According to him, such actions would confirm legitimacy or expose irregularities.
The Turaki faction responded by insisting it already operates from a known office location in Abuja. A factional representative, Umar Sani, stated that the office is in Area 10 and challenged Wike to act on his threat if he has the authority. The faction also rejected claims that it lacks legal standing, insisting that its structure is backed by its interpretation of party documents and ongoing internal processes.
The dispute highlights continued instability within one of Nigeria’s major political parties. It raises questions about internal governance, dispute resolution, and compliance with court and administrative directives.
