Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has received the report of the committee established to foster reconciliation and strengthen cohesion among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the party’s primaries across the state.
The Jigawa APC unity initiative was launched on May 22, 2026, with a 15-member committee led by APC stalwart Isah Gerawa. The committee was tasked with consulting party aspirants, addressing grievances and promoting peace as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
Presenting the report at the Government House in Dutse on Friday, Senator Muhammad Dudu, who represented the committee chairman, praised Governor Namadi for initiating what he described as a historic reconciliation process.
According to Dudu, the committee engaged more than 400 APC members during its assignment, making it one of the most extensive post-primary consultations conducted in the state’s democratic history. He noted that committee members toured all 27 local government areas, meeting with both successful and unsuccessful aspirants to hear their concerns and encourage continued commitment to the party.
“This provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding, resolve differences, and thank them for their contributions to the development of the APC,” Dudu said. He added that the consultations were aimed at strengthening the Jigawa APC unity agenda by ensuring every stakeholder felt included despite the outcome of the primaries.
Receiving the report, Governor Namadi commended the committee for its dedication and described its assignment as a significant contribution to the party’s stability.
The governor said he had already begun receiving encouraging feedback about the committee’s reconciliation efforts even before it concluded its statewide consultations. According to him, the APC’s success in future elections depends on maintaining unity and ensuring that every member remains valued.
“Everyone is important in achieving the goals of the APC,” Namadi stated.
Governor Namadi urged the committee not to end its assignment with the submission of the report, but to continue serving as a standing reconciliation body ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I’m appealing to you to continue this work until the general elections, so that the committee can continue to function as a standing committee to ensure lasting unity and peace in the party,” the governor said. The Jigawa APC unity drive comes as political parties across the country intensify internal consultations and reconciliation efforts following the conclusion of primary elections and ahead of the 2027 polls.
