The Presidency has unveiled the APC Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed chairman. The 108-member council was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as vice chairman, while APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman. Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.
APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named deputy and assistant secretaries respectively. The campaign chairman will be supported by a team of senior political advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed deputy director-generals for the southern and northern zones. They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was assigned responsibility for mobilisation as deputy director-general, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee administration. James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones. They include Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East. Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori will serve as secretaries within the election planning directorate.
Muiz Adeyemi Banire will head the legal directorate, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members of the legal team include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh. For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi will serve as coordinating director. He will work alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were named coordinating deputy directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries. Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, a position he held during the previous campaign. Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the New Media directorate.
The campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. The other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda. The structure brings together serving government officials, party leaders, political figures and campaign operatives as the APC prepares for the 2027 presidential contest.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu has charged members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the party in the January 2027 elections. He also encouraged directorate leaders to involve other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.
The President’s message, according to the statement, is that the campaign should focus heavily on the administration’s record in office. The Presidency said the government had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on a path towards economic progress.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet, let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” Tinubu said.
He further urged the campaign team to defeat opposition forces seeking to return the country to what he described as the past. With the council now constituted, the APC has formally established a central structure to coordinate its messaging, mobilisation, legal strategy and election planning ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
