EFFURUN, Delta State — Prospective students who missed the first Post-UTME screening of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), have been given another opportunity to seek admission for the 2026/2027 academic session. The university announced a FUPRE supplementary screening exercise scheduled for August 24 and 25, following the initial screening conducted from July 21 to 25.
The fresh admission window is also open to candidates who originally selected other institutions but now intend to make FUPRE their first choice through the approved change-of-institution process. Registration for the FUPRE supplementary screening will end on Sunday, August 23. Eligible applicants are expected to register through the university’s admission portal and pay a screening fee of N2,000.
FUPRE set a minimum UTME score of 160 for candidates seeking to participate in the supplementary exercise. Applicants must have selected FUPRE as their first-choice institution or completed the required change-of-institution process before registration.
The university also requires candidates to possess at least five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026. Accepted qualifications include SSCE, NECO, GCE and NABTEB certificates.
The supplementary exercise offers another opportunity for admission seekers who missed the earlier screening or subsequently decided to pursue their studies at FUPRE. However, candidates who participated in the initial screening conducted between July 21 and 25 are not required to take part in the supplementary exercise.
FUPRE, established in 2007, is Nigeria’s specialised university dedicated to petroleum and energy-related education. Its academic programmes have since expanded into areas including science, engineering, technology, computing, maritime studies, petroleum administration and management. The institution currently runs 32 undergraduate programmes across five colleges and is recognised as Africa’s first specialised petroleum university and the sixth specialised petroleum university globally.
The university urged eligible candidates to complete their applications before the August 23 deadline. It also advised applicants to regularly monitor the admission portal for further information concerning the screening exercise and subsequent stages of the 2026/2027 admission process.
