The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted.
The anti-graft agency made the announcement in a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, and published on its official X handle on Wednesday.
According to the EFCC, Maina is wanted in connection with an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties,” the agency stated.
The commission appealed to members of the public with information about Maina’s whereabouts to report to the agency or the nearest police station.
The EFCC listed its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja as points where information could be provided.
The agency said Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu in Borno State.
It also provided a telephone contact, 08093322644, and its official email address, [email protected], for members of the public who may have information that could assist in locating him.
The commission further urged anyone with relevant information to contact other security agencies or the nearest police station.
Maina has previously faced criminal proceedings in Nigeria over alleged financial offences.
In 2020, he was extradited to Nigeria after being arrested in Niamey, the capital of Niger Republic, following his departure from the country while facing trial.
He had been declared wanted by an Abuja High Court after reportedly jumping bail.
At the time of his extradition, Maina was standing trial over alleged money laundering involving about N2 billion.
His latest listing by the EFCC adds another development to the legal issues surrounding the former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team.
