Iwuoachang Community in Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has received a new classroom facility at its community secondary school.
The modern classroom block was facilitated by Udobia Friday Udo, representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The lawmaker handed over the facility to Iwuoachang Community Secondary School on his birthday, which coincided with the school’s resumption. He said the timing was deliberate to enable students and teachers to begin using the facility immediately.
Speaking during the ceremony, Udobia described the project as his contribution towards improving education within his constituency. He also thanked Governor Umo Eno and members of his constituency for their support.
According to the lawmaker, the project supports the education objectives of the state government’s ARISE AGENDA. He said the facility was designed to address overcrowding and create a better environment for learning and practical education.
The Iwuoachang classroom block contains three classrooms alongside offices for the principal and teaching staff. The facility also includes toilets, desks, a storeroom and water facilities.
Udobia disclosed that additional technology equipment would be provided to further improve learning. The planned additions include a computer system and a smart television for technology-supported teaching.
The commissioning was performed by Dr. Eunice Thomas, who commended Udobia and Governor Eno for their efforts in advancing education in the state.
The Iwuoachang Village Council and the school principal, Mr. Ikpaette Asukpa Ikpaette, expressed appreciation for the intervention. They also appealed for more development projects to address other needs within the community and school.
The ceremony attracted lawmakers, representatives of the local government, traditional rulers, students and other members of the community.
Udobia was also presented with awards by community organisations in recognition of his contributions to education and development.
For the school community, the new facility is expected to provide improved learning conditions and create a more suitable environment for students and teachers.
The project also marks another infrastructure intervention aimed at supporting education within the Esit Eket/Ibeno constituency.
