ADC, NDC Submit Presidential Tickets Through INEC Nomination Portal

The INEC nomination portal has received the presidential tickets of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as both opposition parties confirmed the successful submission of their candidates ahead of the 2027 general election. The announcements come as political parties continue to complete candidate nominations in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi announced that the party had successfully uploaded the names and particulars of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the INEC nomination portal. In a post shared on his X account, Abdullahi described the submission as an important milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

He said: “we are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of INEC.

“This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity, and national renewal.”

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi also confirmed that he had completed his INEC nomination form. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Obi reflected on questions contained in the nomination form, saying they highlighted the importance of integrity and accountability in public office.

Referring to a question asking whether an aspirant had ever been adjudged a lunatic or declared to be of unsound mind, Obi argued that Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, rising hunger and alleged diversion of public funds deserved greater national attention than partisan politics.

He said: “when Nigerians, including children and security personnel, are being abducted into the bushes, citizens cannot travel safely on our highways, several million Nigerians are uncertain where their next meal will come from, and several billions are being siphoned frivolously through non-existent agencies and projects, should politics really be our primary preoccupation?”

Obi also urged INEC to publish the academic credentials submitted by all candidates seeking elective offices, stating that greater transparency would strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.

According to him: “transparency strengthens democracy and builds public trust. Nigeria’s problems are too serious for politics as usual. It is time for leadership defined by competence, character, capacity, compassion and commitment to service.”

NDC vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso also announced that his nomination had been successfully uploaded through the INEC nomination portal.

In a post on X, Kwankwaso said the party’s National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, visited him in Abuja, where they reviewed preparations for the 2027 elections. He said he briefed Dickson on consultations held across the North-West, describing the engagements as productive. Kwankwaso added that Dickson confirmed the successful submission of his candidacy alongside that of Peter Obi.

According to him: “Dickson confirmed the successful submission of my candidacy and also announced that my name has been duly uploaded on the INEC portal as the Vice Presidential candidate to His Excellency Peter Obi on the platform of our party.

“We remain steadfast, united, and fully focused on the mission ahead.”

The confirmations by both the ADC and NDC mark another stage in preparations for the 2027 general election as political parties continue to conclude candidate nominations in accordance with INEC’s electoral timetable.
