Kaduna Police Rescue Kidnap Victims following a coordinated security operation that secured the freedom of three persons held captive for more than 40 days. The operation also led to the arrest of five suspected informants believed to have supported the kidnapping network operating in parts of Kaduna State.
The Kaduna State Police Command announced the development on Saturday through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan. According to the command, the rescue followed weeks of intelligence gathering, surveillance activities, and collaboration among security agencies aimed at dismantling criminal networks involved in kidnapping across the state.
Kidnapping remains one of the major security challenges confronting several communities in northern Nigeria, prompting increased cooperation between security agencies and local residents to track criminal groups and secure the release of victims.
Hassan said the rescue mission was carried out by a joint security team led by personnel from Fushin Kada in collaboration with the Divisional Police Officer in Hunkuyi. According to the police spokesman, intelligence reports and strategic surveillance operations led security operatives to a suspected bandits’ hideout where the victims were being held.
“Upon sighting the advancing security personnel, the bandits fled the area, abandoning the victims who were subsequently rescued unharmed,” Hassan said. The rescued individuals were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu of Kudan Local Government Area in Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village in Niger State.
Following the operation, the victims were taken to a police medical facility for examination and treatment before being reunited with their families. The Kaduna Police Rescue operation also resulted in the arrest of five suspected informants during ongoing investigations.
Hassan disclosed that preliminary findings indicated the suspects allegedly provided information and logistical assistance to members of the kidnapping syndicate.
“The suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation,” he stated.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers and security personnel involved in the operation. He praised the professionalism, dedication, and cooperation among the agencies that contributed to the successful rescue mission.
Muhammad reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state. He also encouraged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information. According to the commissioner, community participation remains an important component of efforts to tackle insecurity and criminal activities.
The successful operation highlights the growing role of intelligence-led policing in addressing kidnapping cases. Security experts have repeatedly emphasised the importance of community cooperation and information sharing in disrupting criminal networks. The arrest of suspected informants also underscores concerns about local support structures that often enable kidnapping operations. Authorities believe dismantling such networks is critical to reducing criminal activities and improving public safety.
The Kaduna Police Rescue Operation marks another breakthrough in efforts to combat kidnapping in Kaduna State. Police authorities say investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network, while efforts remain focused on strengthening security and protecting communities across the state.
