PDP Awaits Federal Court Verdict on Ibadan National Convention Dispute

The Peoples Democratic Party said it will await the outcome of a Federal High Court judgment on the dispute over its Ibadan national convention, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary said on Tuesday.

The matter centres on a suit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging the validity of the PDP’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The convention produced leadership for the party’s National Working Committee.

Mr. Okorie Uchendu, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, said the party believes in the rule of law and will respect the judgment of the Federal High Court when delivered. He issued the statement at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Uchendu said the party is aware of efforts by some aggrieved members to challenge the Ibadan convention through the court.

He said the leadership will allow the court to determine the matter and that the party would abide by the court’s decision once delivered.

The deputy spokesperson noted that legal processes are ongoing at the Federal High Court and that judgment is expected soon.

He emphasised that the PDP will not take extra‑legal actions while the case is before the court.
