APC, PDP, LP Members Join ADC in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna

Members of the Labour Party and others from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party have formally joined the African Democratic Congress in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna States, the party said.

The developments were announced by the African Democratic Congress as political movements take place ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The shifts involve multiple officeholders and party members in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna States.

In Akwa Ibom State, all 31 chapter chairmen of the Labour Party have declared their membership of the African Democratic Congress.

The declarations took place during an unveiling of party structures in Uyo, which was attended by Peter Obi.

The party issued a statement saying that the Labour Party leaders made the decision to join without receiving mobilisation funds, threats, coercion, or immediate benefit.

The statement noted their actions were motivated by leadership qualities they observed, referencing Peter Obi.

In Kaduna State, over 23,000 members drawn from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party formally resigned from their parties and joined the African Democratic Congress in Zone 1, Lere Local Government Area.

The defectors in Kaduna were received by the Coalition Co-Chairman of the ADC Kaduna State Chapter, Bashir Saidu, and the National Vice Chairman of ADC North West, Ja’afar Sani.

A statement signed by Darius Kurah, ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary for Kaduna State, said the members had formally resigned their memberships with their former parties and joined the ADC.

The Secretary of the Kaduna State Membership Card Registration Committee, Hafsat Baba, said the ADC would provide equal opportunities to all new members.
