A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has installed new party executives in Bayelsa, Ekiti and Oyo states.

The elections took place over the weekend following a court judgment that invalidated the PDP’s November 15 and 16 convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, which had earlier produced Tanimu Turaki as national chairman.

The Wike‑backed faction of the party’s caretaker committee has been conducting ward, zonal and state congresses ahead of a national convention scheduled for March 28 in Abuja.

In Bayelsa, Alabh Turnah emerged as the state chairman of the PDP through a consensus arrangement held at the newly inaugurated party secretariat in Yenagoa.

An electoral panel led by Austin Sor monitored the congress, which was also observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission under heavy security.

Other members of the 20‑man State Working Committee elected include Ato Ebibofayei as secretary and Biobelemoyei Goniwari as treasurer.

Turnah thanked delegates and observers and said the leadership would serve with dedication and commitment.

He said the PDP remains the majority party in Bayelsa State and expressed optimism about future elections.

In Ekiti, Lanre Omolase emerged as the state chairman of the Wike‑backed PDP faction.

Bisi Kolawole, a member of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, said the party’s national leadership is working to rebuild unity, strengthen internal democracy and restore confidence among members.

Kolawole urged the newly elected state executives to remain loyal to the party, uphold discipline, unity and the party’s ideals.

Philip Adebiyi, chairman of the PDP State Congress Committee, expressed satisfaction with the congress and said reconciliation efforts are ongoing to bring members together.
