The All Progressives Congress says the reported Oyo APC crisis is “nothing to worry about,” with its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissing concerns and describing the developments as routine political engagement rather than a serious internal rift.

Morka spoke on ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, addressing claims that the Oyo APC crisis signalled deep divisions within the party in Oyo State.

He said that disagreements among members are expected in a large political party and that such interactions do not amount to a crisis.

Morka said the reported Oyo APC crisis reflects members taking interest and asserting themselves as aspirants in party processes.

He described this as “normal banter at this point” and said it should not be viewed as an official rift within the party.

“We are the largest party in this country, and maybe on the continent,” Morka said. He added that when many people compete for leadership and candidacy, disagreements are bound to occur.

Addressing reports about N5.1 million payments by an aspirant, identified as Fubara Dagogo, Morka clarified that the party does not “collect” money unofficially.

Rather, he said, the APC publishes guidelines, rules and account details, and that individuals make voluntary payments in line with those rules.

He stated that participants who pay the required fees are presumed to understand and accept the rules governing the process.

Morka also said the party remains open to addressing concerns raised by members, including questions about the payment process and refunds.

On the issue of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress national convention, Morka said the event would offer an opportunity for the party to demonstrate unity and outline its direction.

He said Nigerians should expect a “strong statement” from the APC about its organisational consolidation and vision going forward.
