Peter Obi has said efforts are focused on restoring the economic and industrial strength of Kano during a visit to the state.
Obi, a former presidential candidate, visited Kano on Sunday where he met with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of the state.
The meeting, held at Kwankwaso’s residence, was attended by several political figures, including Seyi Makinde and Seriake Dickson, among others.
The gathering coincided with the annual Kwankwassiya Sallah celebration in Kano.
Addressing a crowd during the event, Obi stated that his visit was primarily to celebrate the Sallah festival and show respect to Kwankwaso.
He said: “We want to change Kano. We want to build a new Kano. What we want to do is bring back the power of Kano.”
Obi referred to past industrial activities in areas such as Bompai and Sharada, stating that efforts would focus on reviving factories and economic institutions that previously contributed to the state’s development.
He also clarified that the visit was not a political engagement but part of the Sallah celebration.
Kwankwaso, who hosted the event, welcomed the visitors and expressed appreciation for their presence during the celebration.
The visit brought together political figures and supporters during a major cultural event, with discussions referencing economic revival in Kano.
