The Ekiti State Government has prohibited political parties, campaign groups, and individuals from pasting posters on public buildings and infrastructure across the state.
The directive aims to regulate campaign activities and maintain civic order.
The Commissioner for Information, Segun Oyetola, disclosed the ban in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti. He said the government was concerned about the indiscriminate placement of campaign materials, which often damages public property.
The statement emphasised that political activities must comply with laws protecting public infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, bridges, and government offices.
According to the government, any individual or group violating the directive would be subject to penalties under the state’s environmental and public property laws.
The statement urged political parties and aspirants to respect the rule and seek proper channels for campaign promotions, warning that enforcement agencies would monitor compliance.
The government highlighted that the measure is intended to ensure a clean, organized, and orderly environment while safeguarding public property from damage caused by adhesive posters and flyers.
It also noted that maintaining public infrastructure is critical to the welfare of residents and the overall aesthetics of towns and communities in Ekiti State.
