APC Mocks PDP, Says Makinde Set to Lead ‘One-Man’ Governors Forum

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party, stating that Seyi Makinde may emerge as the de facto leader of what it described as a “one-man” PDP Governors’ Forum.

The statement was issued by the Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, in response to ongoing developments within the PDP, including defections of some governors from the party.

According to the APC, the situation reflects internal challenges within the PDP and concerns about its cohesion as a political party.

Oladejo stated that recent defections by PDP governors to the APC have weakened the opposition party’s structure and credibility.

He said:
“In its wake, Governor Seyi Makinde now stands on the brink of emerging as the de facto chairman of a ‘one-man PDP Governors’ Forum’.”

The APC spokesperson described the development as an indication of internal difficulties within the PDP, including what he referred to as a lack of cohesion and direction.

He added that a political party facing internal challenges may struggle to manage governance at the national level.

The APC also expressed concern about the implications of a weakened opposition on Nigeria’s democratic system.

It advised opposition parties to adopt strategies it described as discipline, resilience and strategic patience, which it said contributed to the APC’s growth during its years in opposition.

The statement highlights ongoing political exchanges between the APC and PDP, particularly in the context of internal developments within the opposition party
