Akwa Ibom APC Congress Deemed Most Peaceful in Nigeria’s History, Says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has described the All Progressives Congress State Congress in Akwa Ibom State as the most peaceful in Nigeria’s history, according to party leaders at the event held in Uyo.

The Akwa Ibom APC State Congress took place in Uyo on Tuesday under the supervision of the party’s national delegation chaired by Alhaji Austin Bako.

The Independent National Electoral Commission was represented by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Obo Effanga, at the event.

During the congress, members of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State adopted a consensus process to fill leadership positions within the party’s state chapter.

In a statement, Akpabio described the conduct of the exercise as peaceful and well organised, noting the absence of violent or disruptive incidents.

Following the dissolution of the previous state executive committee led by Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, party delegates endorsed Ntukekpo as the State Chairman.

The congress reaffirmed his position, along with other key officers in the new executive team.

The new executive committee elected at the congress includes:

  • Stephen Ntukekpo — State Chairman
  • Aniekan Ekpo — Deputy State Chairman
  • Envoy Nsetim Akpabio — State Secretary
  • Augustine Udoh — Legal Adviser
  • Patrick Edeke — State Publicity Secretary
