Minister Calls for Unified Action on Poverty Reduction in Plateau State

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, has called on stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State to unite behind efforts aimed at reducing poverty and social vulnerability.

During a meeting with party leaders and stakeholders, the minister stressed that poverty reduction requires coordinated action across political, social and economic lines. He highlighted the need for alignment between government programmes, community leadership and civil society initiatives.

Nigeria continues to face complex poverty challenges driven by unemployment, insecurity, inflation and limited access to basic services. Addressing these issues demands policies that move beyond short term relief toward sustainable livelihoods, skills development and local economic growth.

The minister’s engagement reflects a broader shift toward integrating humanitarian support with development planning. Effective poverty reduction strategies increasingly focus on resilience building, empowerment and long term opportunity creation rather than dependency.

Unity among political and community actors can strengthen programme delivery and ensure that interventions reach those most in need. When collaboration replaces division, resources are used more efficiently and public confidence in social policy grows.

As Nigeria seeks pathways toward shared prosperity, inclusive dialogue and collective responsibility remain essential foundations for progress.
