Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has sacked the state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, with immediate effect, the government said in an official statement on Tuesday.
The removal of Mr Musa follows a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, from the Government House in Kano.
The announcement explained that Mr Musa is to be relieved of his appointment as part of what the administration described as an effort to enhance civil service performance.
The statement directed that Mr Musa hand over the affairs of his office by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, has been named acting Head of Service. She will serve in the position pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.
The governor thanked Mr Musa for his service and contributions to the Kano State civil service during his tenure.
The directive specified that the handover to the acting Head of Service should occur no later than Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The statement from the governor’s office described the action as part of ongoing efforts aimed at repositioning the civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.
