Dangote Executive Honoured for Role in Advancing Nigeria’s Refining Capacity

The Vice President (Oil & Gas) of Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, has been honoured with the Person of the Year award for his contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and for advancing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

The award was presented at the 9th Annual Award and Lecture of Daily Asset Newspapers in Abuja. The event brought together government officials, industry leaders, media executives, and other stakeholders.

Daily Asset Newspaper’s Publisher, Dr Cletus Akwaya, described Edwin as playing a key role in the success of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

The citation read that Edwin was recognised “for serving as the backbone in the process of establishing the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, the largest single‑train refinery globally.”

Akwaya said the Dangote refinery helped Nigeria attain self‑sufficiency in petroleum products, reduce import dependence, and stimulate economic growth. He said the award highlighted leadership excellence and contributions to national progress.

Edwin was represented at the ceremony by Alhaji Abatcha Bishara, Senior General Manager of External Relations and Stakeholder Management at Dangote Group.

Other recipients at the event included the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji; Chief Mamman Mike Osuman, National Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum; and several state governors and officials.
